Edappadi Palanisamy was also the Minister of Highways and Public Works during the AIADMK regime from 2011 to 2016. Then in 2016 the AIADMK regained power. The same minister then continued in office. After Jayalalithaa's demise, he took over as First Minister in March 2017. He was then the Salem Suburban District Secretary and is the party's co-ordinator and leader of the opposition. He still served as the party's district secretary. He also seems to be receiving a series of threats. In turn, Ilangovan may have been appointed AIADMK secretary for the suburban district. Edappadi has taken this decision based on the information received from above that Ilangovan will enter the trial ring as soon as possible. The AIADMK also says that the OPS is upset that Edappadi Palanisamy did not expect to do so to avoid getting involved in the Kodanadu case.
